Jackie talks about why the best clothes should be versatile and reveals the reasons why customers and celebrities alike love the current collection Belted Cape Coat, as featured in the March edition of British Vogue.
For me, one of the joys of designing is that I get to create unique and versatile pieces that can be worn in both town and countryside, allowing women to style a look their way.
Take our Belted Cape Coat. I adore this piece. Sketching out the initial design, taking the time to create the unique and beautiful silhouette, working with the British and Scottish Mills to weave the navy check and natural overcheck colour ways. The Belted Cape Coat Offers the wearer endless personal styling possibilities. Because that’s what I believe pieces in our wardrobe should provide us with - versatility and timeless appeal, whether it’s teamed with smart trousers, jeans or a beautiful evening dress.
As women, we create our own looks depending on the weather, on our mood, on how we feel each look creating our own Individuality and style. I believe well chosen pieces in our wardrobes should allow us to be what we need to be and do what we need to do.
Celebrity TV Chef and best-selling author, Clodagh McKenna is a loyal fan of the brand, and highlighted the versatility of her Jackie Maguire Belted Cape Coat beautifully. A long advocate of sustainability and environmental ethics, Clodagh wore her Belted Cape Coat on a walk in the grounds of Broadspear in Highclere Park, England, the home she shares with her partner, The Honourable Harry Herbert (and which, rather fascinatingly, is the setting for the award winning television drama and film Downton Abbey). Clodagh walked in the woods of the castle grounds wearing the coat, showing so well how it can be styled with and for anything. “Love wearing this beautifully made coat that will last for years, made from quality heritage materials, fits impeccable, made in the UK,” Clodagh commented about her Jackie Maguire coat. “Ticking every box in my quest to live a more sustainable life”.
Clodagh’s love of the Belted Cape Coat is one of many stories. Some of my loyal customers tell me they choose the Belted Cape Coat as their stand-out style for the races, or dinner, dressed up over a silk dress, and others love to take the coat as their favourite layering piece over cosy sweaters, jeans and Riding boots or Hunter boots for a countryside stroll with their dogs. It’s always so wonderful to hear loyal fans stories because this is exactly what I wanted to create - a collection that could be worn time and time again. The cloth in every Jackie Maguire garment is of exceptional heritage quality, pure wool, warm, durable - all the ingredients to create the perfect contemporary design with timeless appeal that won’t date. And I’m so proud of the fact that each and every one of our Coats and Jackets is hand-cut and sewn in England, with the finest natural fibres, using carefully selected yarn suppliers and artisan specialists who hand cut and make every garment with absolute passion.
I’d love to hear from you and how you style your Jackie Maguire piece. Drop a line on Instagram or Facebook, or pop across an email. Can’t wait to see your unique looks.
May you stay warm and stylish this Spring.
